What it does
Equity mining and lifecycle tools scan the DMS for owners who could change vehicles on good terms. They compare each customer's payoff to current trade value, flag lease and finance maturities, and watch for warranty expiration, high mileage or rising repair costs. The result is a daily list of people worth a conversation.
The best opportunities often show up in the service lane. When an owner with positive equity checks in, the tool alerts the advisor and a salesperson so they can offer an appraisal while the car is already there. Many dealers also use these tools to buy vehicles back from owners, since sourcing used inventory from customers usually costs less than auction.
Data quality decides results. Payoff estimates, valuation sources and current incentives all feed the math. A tool that flags the wrong people wastes staff time and annoys customers.
Who in the store uses it
- Sales managers: assign opportunities and track how many turn into deals.
- BDC agents: call, text and email the flagged customers.
- Service advisors: see alerts when owners with equity are in the lane.
- Used car managers: use buy-back opportunities to source inventory.
- Marketing managers: turn segments into mail and digital campaigns.
